Kling 4.0 is the newest model from Kuaishou, the fourth installment in the Kling AI video generation line. As of now, it's available now to Kling Ultra subscribers ahead of its full launch in October 2026. A faster, lower-cost version, Kling 4.0 Flash, has been in early access since September 28. The upgrade is built around higher-end output.
This review covers everything in Kling AI's official announcement so far, how Kling 4 compares with Kling 3.0 and other AI video generators on paper.
Kling 4 at a glance
- Kling 4.0: available now to Kling Ultra subscribers; full launch in October 2026

What Is Kling 4?
I wanted to see how @Kling_ai 4.0 would handle a scene where the environment matters just as much as the main subject.

What impressed me here is the scale. There’s so much happening across the frame, but the scene still feels connected and visually coherent instead of turning… pic.twitter.com/YK9nVniMLQ
Kling 4 is the fourth generation of Kling AI video generation models, developed by Kuaishou, and Kling AI's biggest video generation model release since Kling 3.0. It generates video from text, images and video references, with native audio, and comes in two versions: Kling 4.0, the full model, and Kling 4.0 Flash, a faster, lower-cost version for quicker turnaround.
Kuaishou describes realism, control and professional quality as the focus of the upgrade, with improvements to visual realism, camera control, lip sync, text generation, and longer, more complete narratives.
Kling 4 Release Date and Official Announcement
In its official Kling 4 announcement, Kling AI confirmed that Kling 4.0 will fully launch in October 2026. It's already available on Kling's own platform, but only to Ultra subscribers, and Kling 4.0 Flash has been in early access since September 28, 2026.
Kling 4 isn't included in the Kling AI free plan or lower paid tiers yet. And because the API hasn't been released, other AI video generators and third-party platforms can't offer Kling 4 yet either.
Kling 4.0 vs Kling 4.0 Flash
The two versions differ mainly in resolution and clip length:
| Kling 4.0 | Kling 4.0 Flash | |
|---|---|---|
| Output resolution | 720p, 1080p and 4K | 720p |
| 10-bit HDR | Yes, at 1080p and 4K | No |
| Clip length | 3 to 30 seconds | 3 to 20 seconds |
| Best for | Final renders and high-end production | Faster drafts and lower-cost generation |
For most workflows, Kling 4.0 Flash is the natural choice for drafting and testing ideas, with Kling 4.0 used for the final render once the shot is right.

Here’s a breakdown of key features of Kling 4 AI video generator:
Output resolution
Kling 4.0 generates video at 720p, 1080p and 4K. Kling 4.0 Flash tops out at 720p. The AI video model also supports 21:9 ultrawide format.
10-bit HDR
At 1080p and 4K, Kling 4.0 outputs in 10-bit HDR. Standard 8-bit video stores 256 levels of brightness per color channel, while 10-bit stores 1,024, which means smoother gradients and less visible banding in skies, shadows, and skin tones. HDR output needs an HDR-capable screen and platform to be seen at its best, but it also gives more room for color grading afterward.
Stereo audio
Kling 4.0 generates two-channel stereo audio with the video, rather than a single mono track. Sound can come from the left or right of the frame, which makes scenes with movement or background ambience feel more natural.
Lip sync and languages
Kling claims AI lip sync is more accurate in Kling 4, keeping dialogue and performances in sync with the picture. Speech is supported in languages including Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Portuguese, German, French and Indonesian, along with regional accents and dialects, such as Cantonese, Sichuanese, American, British and Indian English.
Longer clips
Kling 4 generates clips of 3 to 30 seconds in a single generation, and Kling 4 Flash up to 20 seconds. A video extension feature, listed as coming soon, will extend clips up to 2 minutes through multiple extensions.
Reference inputs
A single generation can use up to 15 reference assets: up to 10 images, 5 videos (30 seconds combined) and 7 subjects, plus voice references. Supported reference types include subject images, motion references, infographics, game UI, keyframes, wireframes, and white-model and depth-map videos, which let you guide both what appears in the shot and how it moves.
Keyframes and first/last frames
Kling 4 supports up to 10 keyframes, alongside first-and-last-frame generation, so you can set specific moments in a clip and let the model fill in the motion between them. It's a more precise way to control pacing and composition than prompting alone.
Camera control
Push-ins, pull-outs, pans, tracking shots and orbiting moves are described as more natural and stable, with support for more complex camera movement and shot sequencing.
Video editing
Kling 4 can edit video, taking up to 5 input clips with a combined length of up to 30 seconds. The AI video model lets you edit camera position and angle, video style, change backgrounds, scenes, body movements, and more, all while making sure the rest of the video remains stable.
Longer prompts
Text prompts can run up to 8,000 tokens, far more room for detailed direction than most AI video generation models allow.
Kling 4 vs Kling 3.0: What Has to Improve
On paper, Kling 4 extends Kling 3.0 in almost every direction:
| Kling 3.0 | Kling 4.0 | |

On specs, Kling 4.0 matches Seedance 2.5 on resolution and clip length, the two areas where Seedance led the field. Whether it can match Seedance's scores for cinematic realism and lip sync, where Seedance 2.5 was strongest in our test, is the comparison to watch.
Kling 4 Pricing: What We Know So Far
Kling AI hasn't published per-generation pricing for Kling 4 yet. For now, access requires Kling's Ultra plan, at [add price from Kling's pricing page].
For context, Kling 3.0 Pro costs about $0.34 per second at 1080p on ImagineArt, and Kling AI's paid plans for earlier models start at $79.20 a year for Standard. Kling 4.0's 4K HDR output is likely to cost more per generation than Kling 3.0, but we'll wait for published pricing rather than guess. We'll add Kling 4's cost per second on ImagineArt as soon as it's available.

How to Get Ready for Kling 4
A few things are worth doing now, so you can get good results from Kling 4 as soon as you have access:
- Write more detailed prompts. With up to 8,000 tokens available, Kling 4 can take much more direction than older models. Describe the subject, the action, the setting, the camera move, the lighting and the audio. Our guide to AI video prompts covers how to structure them.
- Plan shots around keyframes. With up to 10 keyframes, you can decide the key moments of a clip in advance instead of relying on the model to find them.
- Build reference sets. Gather the images, subject shots and motion clips you'd want the model to follow, so you're ready to use Kling 4's 15-asset reference limit.
- Draft on Flash, finish on 4.0. Flash is cheaper and faster at 720p, which makes it the natural tool for testing ideas before a 4K render.
