What the ImagineArt Desktop App Adds

Downloads that file themselves.

Everything you download from ImagineArt goes straight into your Mac's Downloads folder, with no save dialog to click through. Download the same image twice and the second copy gets its own name, so nothing you saved earlier is ever replaced.

Your Dock keeps count.

The ImagineArt icon fills with progress while your files download, so you can get on with other work. When the last one lands, a macOS notification tells you, and one click shows it in Finder.

A window of its own.

ImagineArt runs in a native Mac window instead of one more browser tab. Switch to it with Command-Tab, give it a full screen of its own, and keep your browser for everything else. Links to other sites still open there.

Your mic and camera, ready.

Record your voice for lipsync, voice cloning and dictation, or film yourself for motion transfer and ads. macOS asks for permission the first time, and only ImagineArt's own pages can use them.

Sign in where your passwords live.

Signing in happens in the browser you already use, with your password, Google, Facebook, Discord or your company's single sign-on. Click Open Imagine to come back to the app, which then stays signed in when you restart it.

The Details, Handled

The small things a good desktop app should take care of, taken care of.

  • One ImagineArt Account

Your plan, credits and creations are the same ones you use on the web. There's no second account to manage.

  • Updates Itself

New versions download in the background. Restart when it suits you, or the update installs the next time you quit.

  • Back When You Are

If your connection drops or your Mac wakes from sleep, the app reloads the page for you as soon as you're online again.

  • Apple Silicon and Intel

One download runs natively on both kinds of Mac, so there's no version to pick.

Desktop App or Web App?

One account, two ways in. Use whichever fits the way you work, or both.

ImagineArt Desktop App FAQ

What is the ImagineArt desktop app?

It's the free Mac app for ImagineArt, the AI image, video and audio platform at imagine.art. It runs the whole platform, including the image and video generators, audio tools, Studios, Workflows and the Creative Agent, in its own window instead of a browser tab.

What does the desktop app add over the web app?

Files you download save straight to your Downloads folder and never overwrite each other, the Dock shows download progress, and a notification tells you when files finish. You also get a window of its own, direct use of your microphone and camera for voice and video tools, and updates that install themselves.

How do I install ImagineArt on my Mac?

Click Download for Mac to get the installer, a .dmg file. Open it and drag Imagine into your Applications folder. Then open Imagine from Applications, Launchpad or Spotlight and sign in with your ImagineArt account.

Does the desktop app have every ImagineArt tool and model?

Yes. The app runs the same ImagineArt platform as imagine.art, so every AI image, video and audio tool, model and Studio is there, and new ones appear in the app as soon as they launch on the web.

Which Macs does it run on?

Both Apple silicon and Intel Macs. It's a universal app, so one download runs natively on either kind of Mac.

Is there an ImagineArt app for Windows?

Not at the moment: the desktop app is for macOS only. On Windows, Linux or ChromeOS, use ImagineArt in any modern browser at imagine.art, with the same tools and the same account.

Do I need a new account?

No. Sign in with the ImagineArt account you already have. Your plan, credits and creations are the same in the app and on the web.

Is the desktop app free?

The app is free to download. Creating with it works exactly as it does on the web: generations use your plan's credits, and your plan unlocks the same features in both places.

How does signing in work?

Click Sign in with browser and the app opens your default browser, where you sign in as you do on the web. Then choose Open Imagine and you're back in the app, on Home. The app keeps you signed in when you restart it.

Where do my downloads go?

To your Mac's Downloads folder. If a file with the same name is already there, the new one is saved with a number added, such as image (1).png, so nothing gets replaced. Click the notification that appears when a download finishes to see the file in Finder.

How do updates work?

The app checks for new versions in the background and downloads them for you. When one is ready, you can restart to install it straight away, or let it install the next time you quit.

Does it work offline?

No. ImagineArt creates images, video and audio on its servers, so the app needs an internet connection. If the connection drops, the app keeps trying and reloads the page as soon as you're back online.

Why does it ask for my microphone or camera?

Only when you use a feature that needs one. The microphone records your voice for lipsync, voice cloning and dictation, and the camera records video for motion transfer and ads. macOS asks before the app can use either, and you can change your choice in System Settings at any time.
